Paul Connolly
Paul is the Chief Petrohysicist and Technical Coordinator for Shale Gas Plays with EOG Resources, Inc. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1976 with a BS degree in Applied Physics, and joined Shell Oil Company as a Petrophysical Engineer. From 1976-1983, Paul held various Petrophysical Engineering assignments in the Michigan , Permian, Delaware , Anadarko, Ardmore , and Arkoma basins. From 1983-1994, Paul held Petrophysical Engineering supervisory positions in the Shell Companies, including Division Petrophysical Engineer for areas of California and the Gulf of Mexico, Research Manager, and Technical Manager in Pecten International Company. Paul joined EOG Resources as a Petrophysical Specialist in 1994, working international projects and new venture evaluation. He was assigned to his current position in 1995.
Thaimar Ramirez is a Petrophysical Engineer in the Exploration and Production Technology Department with Apache Corporation in Houston, TX. Previously, Thaimar worked for ConocoPhillips, where she gained experience as a petrophysicist in both business units and technology, including Alaska exploration, domestic and international production projects, and global unconventional resource play formation evaluation. Thaimar received a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2004. She was elected 2010-2011 editor of the SPWLA Houston Chapter. She is a member of the SPWLA technology committee and served as secretary of the SPWLA Unconventional Resources special-interest-group. Thaimar is also a member of the SPE, AAPG, and SEG.
TA is a Petrophysicist working for Chevron Deep Water Exploration and Projects in Gulf of Mexico. His prior oilfield experience includes formation evaluation with Baker Atlas and Unocal, locations include London, Aberdeen, Abu Dhabi, Balikpapan, Jakarta, Bangkok, China and Houston. TA is a National Taiwan University graduate and a University of Illinois graduate with a Masters in Geology.TA has published 5 papers in SPWLA Symposium, AAPG, EPC (European Petroleum Conference), since 1982.
Jack is a Sr. Petrophysicist with Swift Energy. He works on various domestic projects with a focus on strategic growth; specializing in formation evaluation of Unconventional Reservoirs (both Oil and Gas) and Tight Gas Sands. Jack has over 25 yrs. experience in the oil and gas industry and has worked with various companies including independents, petrophysical software companies, service companies, and consultants. Recent work includes both conventional and unconventional analyses in the Gulf Coast, Appalachian Basin, Rockies, and international work involving various plays in the Middle and Upper Magdalena Basins in Columbia and Neuquen Basin in Argentina
Tobi Odumosu is presently a petrophysicist at BP with the Gulf of Mexico resource team. His prior experience includes shale gas appraisal (Haynesville) in North America. He holds a BSc degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Lagos Nigeria, and an MSc in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin with his research focus on formation evaluation. He started his oilfield experience with Schlumberger as a wireline engineer and continued as a petrophysicist with Schlumberger data and consulting services in Oklahoma City. He has held several leadership positions including the president of the engineering society during his undergraduate studies.
Rob is an Account Manager for Baker Hughes, specializing in Advanced OH Interpretation. His previous oilfield experience includes both Wireline and LWD data acquisition & formation evaluation with Schlumberger, Weatherford and ResTech. Rob is an SMU graduate with an MBA and a University of Missouri graduate with a MSME degree from UMC and a BSME degree from UMR. Rob is also a past VP for the Northside of the Houston Chapter of the SPWLA, where he played a key role in establishing credit card acceptance and “online payment” with PayPal. As a current and former business owner, Rob has 10 years of “hands-on” experience in accounting, banking & finance.
Simon Clinch is a staff petrophysicist with Chevron. His current role is with exploration, appraisal and project in Chevron's Deepwater Gulf of Mexico business unit. Simon's primary areas of interest are: improving core analysis results, integrating core and log data, and extracting more information from the data already acquired. Previously, Simon worked for two independent oil companies, an independent consultancy company, and a core analysis company. Simon received an honours degree in Engineering from Adelaide University in 1990, and an MSc in Geology from the University of South Australia in 1995.
Zhipeng (Z) Liu is a petrophysicist in Kinder Morgan Co2 working on CO2 EOR projects. His research interest includes EOR, petrophysics, geology, log analysis, log modeling and inversion. He earned his M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Beijing, China in 2002. He studied in MS program in Petroleum Geology at the University of Houston. He worked for PathFinder, BP, Schlumberger on various LWD, geosteering, tight gas, WL&LWD logging tool. He has authored/coauthored a few technical papers and patents on well logging related subjects. His hobbies include soccer, road bike, kayak, skiiing, target shooting.
